Amazon is acquiring video doorbell startup Ring, only the most up-to-date in a string of moves by the retail giant to control the fast-growing market for Internet-connected dwelling apparatus.
The deal, announced on Tuesday, gives Amazon a prominent home security firm and, possibly, more technology firepower in its push to permit its delivery individuals to lose packages inside buildings, in which burglars can’t readily sneak them. The conditions of the acquisition were though news site Axios noted that Amazon likely paid over $1.2 billion.
