Walmart Inc. will start offering prepared meals at its shops for the first time, a move which could help the nation’s largest grocer market more food while siphoning customers from supermarket chains.
Ten distinct meals are now available in 250 shops, and the program will extend to 2,000 areas by year’s end, Walmart executives stated in a meeting. The business also is introducing four $15 meal-kit options in shops, expanding a business which had previously only been sold online through external vendors.
