Amazon Will Supersize Its Secondly Grab-and-Go Grocery in Seattle

Amazon’s autonomous grocery shop, which is based on computer vision and AI to get rid of cashiers for checkoutand will open its second location this season, the business confirmed Tuesday. “We’re excited to bring Amazon Visit 920 5th Avenue in Seattle. The shop will open in Fall 2018,” a spokesperson said in an statement. The new location has about 70 percent more square footage than the present, somewhat cramped shop.

GeekWire first reported signs, including literal ones, that a location at Seattle about a mile out of the firm’s Amazon Go shop has been prepped: some window masking had peeled back at the peak of the shop being prepped, letting a peek inside. According to licenses, the new shop is going to be 3,000 square foot; the very first shop is simply 1,800, and also has a layout that shows the shop was inserted to the distance, as opposed to the other way round.
