Revealed: Amazon Go’s Fresh Seattle Place signals tech giant’s growing Aspirations for checkout-free retail concept

Amazon is launching an Amazon Go place in the newest Madison Centre office tower in the corner of Fifth Avenue and Marion Street in downtown Seattle. Peering through the window from the pavement, GeekWire also spotted rows of sandwiches, bottles of Smartwater and Peligrino, and also the entry-exit scanning gates into the store. In accordance with permit figures with the town of Seattle, the store is larger than the original version — roughly 3,000 square feet, versus 1,800 square feet. Amazon Go attracted giant lines as it opened in Seattle earlier this year. The store has a 4.5-star evaluation on Yelp, with customers raving about the concept. Amazon Go is a part of a broader drive by Amazon into bodily retail, including its acquisition of Whole Foods, its own Amazon Books shops, and AmazonFresh Pickup places.
