Amazon and Google Are Cultivating Quiet Ties With Police and Military. That’s Becoming a Large Problem

Even the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and 40 other bands Tuesday demanded that Amazon stop allowing governments to use its own Rekognition tool, which the firm says can monitor “all faces in class photographs, crowded occasions, and public places. ” Present customers include the city of Orlando and the Washington Country Sheriff’s Office from Oregon, which has built a database of 300,000 mugshot photographs to utilize Rekognition.
