Jeff Bezos, Jamie Dimon, along with Warren Buffett have made up their minds: Famous physician and public health intellectual Dr. Atul Gawande is going to function as CEO of their Amazon-JPMorgan Chase-Berkshire Hathaway healthcare joint venture, the three companies announced Wednesday.

Gawande may come as a surprising choice to direct this new healthcare company, whose aim will be to decrease healthcare costs and improve results for the roughly one million workers in the triumvirate’s work. He practices general and endocrine surgery at the famed Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and is a scientist and researcher in Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
