Amazon will cost U.S. customers $119 annually to join its absolutely free delivery Prime program starting May 11, a 20% price hike in the popular offering which also has access to your growing library of movie programming.
CFO Brian Olsavsky declared the coming cost hike in a quarterly call with analysts to talk Amazon’s financial results. The company said its first quarter sales increased 43% in the year ago to $51 billion, with a number of the increase coming in the purchase of the Whole Foods supermarket in August. Profit more than doubled to $1.6 billion.
