Third Amazon Go Place opens a week after second store, Quickening Amazon’s Pursuit to Finish grocery lines

Amazon now surfaced the third location of its checkout-less supermarket notion Amazon Go, the second store opening in a week. The new location is in one of Amazon’s office buildings at 300 Boren Ave. N. from the South Lake Union area. It’s the biggest of the 3 stores — 2,100 square feet versus 1,800 for your original store and 1,450 square feet for the second location. After spending years creating the technology behind the store, and yet another year testing it with Amazon employees, the technology giant is starting to move quicker in expanding Amazon Go. The expansion will last as Amazon plans to open stores in San Francisco and Chicago.  Before this year, Recode noted that Amazon intends to open up to six extra Amazon Go stores past the first Seattle location. The store relies heavily upon the Amazon Go smartphone program. Clients scan a special QR code within the program before passing through a set of glass doors, similar to the gates Amazon employees go through when entering their office buildings every morning. A vast array of overhead cameras and fat detectors in the shelves automatically monitor what individuals pick up and take from the store. Each store features a mixture of grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and dinner choices such as sandwiches and salads. Also prominent in Amazon Go stores have been Amazon Meal Kits plus some grocery essentials. When customers leave, they just walk outside. Amazon Go’s methods automatically debit their accounts for the items they take, sending the reception to the program.  By logging shoppers at at the entrance, then tracking their activities from the store, the system removes the need for traditional checkout enrolls and checkout employees along with them. Amazon Go attracted giant lines once it opened in Seattle earlier this year. The store has a 4.5-star score on Yelp, with customers raving about the concept. The opening day of store No. 2 didn’t draw the same fanfare, though it did attract a steady flow of consumers.
