Amazon doubling San Diego Existence with new office with Space for 300 people

(Amazon Photo / John Cameron) Amazon is expanding its presence in San Diego, setting a brand new 85,000-square-foot office space with space for 300 individuals. Today, Amazon has approximately 200 workers in San Diego, and they’ve developed technology that forces AmazonFresh, Prime Today, Amazon Web Services, supply chain tech and prevents fraud within the platform. Amazon stated San Diego teams have been integral at the launch of Whole Foods grocery store and shipping via Prime Today and Alexa grocery buying features. An Amazon Game Studios group at San Diego is constructing a”brand new sport world” that uses AWS and Twitch to connect gamers throughout the world. San Diego is among 17 Amazon tech hubs across North America out of its Seattle headquarters that collectively employ more than 17,500 people. Amazon has spread its presence out in recent decades, and is still hunting for its second headquarters in which it will employ up to 50,000 individuals, though it still has 45,000-plus folks in its Seattle HQ. Amazon’s San Diego presence dates back to 2016 and has been led by Nate Wiger, who has spent a long time with the organization and worked on matches, AWS and AmazonFresh. Wiger, who telecommuted from San Diego to Amazon’s Irvine office, convinced leadership to open an office up there with one of the famous”six-pagers,”a detailed memo read silently in the beginning of an internal meeting. He emphasized University of California San Diego’s strong computer science application and a lower cost of living relative to other California towns.
