The Newest Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.

(GeekWire Photo / Nat Levy) Amazon recently introduced an upgraded version of its popular Kindle e-reader, a sign that the technology giant proceeds to invest in one of its original device lines since it turns out to very different kinds of gadgets. The new Kindle Paperwhite incorporates some of the features that debuted with the Kindle Oasis this past year and other Kindle devices — such as waterproofing, integrations with Audible and Amazon Echo speakers and more — as well as some new capabilities. The new $130 Paperwhite — $10 more than the present version — doubles the storage size from 4GB to 8GB, features an excess LED lighting to illuminate the display and will be 10 percent thinner and lighter. The revamped Paperwhite boasts a few new features such as your own Kindle lineup, such as the capability to set presets for text size, spacing and font, in addition to an updated home display. (GeekWire Photo / Nat Levy) The system goes on sale today, and it’ll begin shipping Nov. 7. Amazon is currently offering three types of instances, each in a number of colors that range from $30 to $60. Along with the 8GB version, a 32GB Paperwhite is priced at $160 and a 32GB version with mobile connectivity goes for $250. Allen Hughes, Amazon’s director of marketing and sales to get Kindle e-readers and Fire tablets, told GeekWire in an interview that the Kindle business stays healthy, more than 10 years following its introduction. Hughes stated Prime Day this year was the largest sales day ever for Kindle devices, and sales continue to rise year over year, as do total pages read. The new Kindle Paperwhite is watertight. (Amazon Photo) Amazon is coming from an event at which the company showed off everything out of subwoofers and amplifiers, to connected microwaves and clocks, to in-car gadgets. But the refreshed Kindle device shows that Amazon will still continue to purchase one of its flagship devices. It stands out as it is free from notifications and another distractions found on average tablets or mobiles. “Sometimes it just helps to have a single-purpose device, one tool to perform the work quite well,” Hughes explained. A number of cases are available for the new Kindle Paperwhite. It has got more features than the 79 Kindle, such as a greater resolution display with lights, but maybe not as many bells and whistles because the $249 Kindle Oasis. Hughes claims the waterproofing shields the device well beyond an accidental water trickle. It’s certified to become submerged in up to approximately six feet of water, and the staff tested out a variety of scenarios such as dropping it in a bathtub or getting soaked by a significant splash. “We try to be more functional than just to fulfill some standard that may not be how you would use the product,” Hughes explained.
